General information:
Side Entering Agitators are most frequently used in Pulp & Paper Industry and Chemical Industry.

The drive unit is located beside the closed or open tank, and rotates the impeller by means of a horizontal shaft with sealing through the tank wall.

Rotating speed plus diameter of the impeller are chosen by AGIMIX to fulfil the required process results for each application.

The AGIMIX product range features belt transmissions, gear drive transmissions and special design transmissions when required by the customer.

Liquid level:
The agitator should be rotated only when the liquid level is above the impeller ("Rule-of-thumb": Liquid level should be 1/2 of the impeller diameter above the impeller).

Volumes:
The agitators may be designed for volumes up to 100.000 m3.

Mounting position:
The vertical position of the propeller is important to ensure proper agitation in the bottom zone.
(“Rule of thumb:” The height of the propeller centre above the tank bottom shall be 0,5 - 1,5 times the propeller diameter.)

The distance between the propeller and the tank wall should be designed as short as possible (to minimize shaft deflection), but must allow for proper filling of the propeller.

(“Rule of thumb:” The distance between the propeller and the tank wall shall be 0,3 – 1,0 times the propeller diameter).

Mounting flange/frame:
Usually the agitator is equipped with a mounting flange, and the tank supplier or owner has to design and supply the counter flange in the tank wall.
Information about torque, bending moment and weight are therefore included in each AGIMIX agitator quotation.

Flanges are available in different sizes – small diameter for shaft wall entrance only, or big diameter exceeding the propeller diameter.

Note: Mounting frame (or bridge) across open tanks can be quoted optionally by AGIMIX.
